Desroches Island

Desroches Island forms part of the Amirantes archipelago of islands, located approximately 130 nautical miles South-West from the Seychelles’ main island of Mahe. Geography

Desroches is c. 4 km2 in size with a length of 5.5km and boasts over 14 km of white sandy beaches. Desroches is a low-lying, volcanic island covered in coconut palms and fringed by a drying reef and abundant, crystal-clear waters. Conservation on the Island is managed by the Island Conservation Society- an organization tasked with conserving and restoring the island ecosystems of Seychelles.

Experience

Desroches is an idyllic and exotic tropical island, synonymous with many desktop screensavers. The island lends itself to a healthy ‘saltwater lifestyle’ where fishing, surfing, and diving are amongst the common past times, with visitors enjoying relaxed sundowners at the end of each long day. Visitors quickly acclimatize to the slow pace of life and take this time to rejuvenate and rediscover themselves.

Hotel

On the South-West side of Desroches is a Four Seasons hotel, opened in 2017. The hotel is separated from the rest of the island by the 1.3km airstrip. The hotel ensures that regular flights frequent the island from Mahe (approx. 40-minute flight). Other services such as a small private clinic, dive centre and surf school are all located within the hotel. Four Seasons boasts some incredible dining experiences, including the famous Lighthouse restaurant.

Village

The Islands Development Company have a permanent presence on Desroches and their quaint, local village is located at the very heart of the island. One can also discover an impressive seasonal fruit and vegetable farm adjacent to the village that provides local delicacies to the homeowners.

Utilities

Power to the villas, like with the rest of Desroches Island, is supplied through the Islands Development Company, generated from a 1,000-panel photo-voltaic system located alongside the airstrip. Freshwater is desalinated on the island and Wi-Fi is readily available, but no GSM network.
